Cuts & Caps Tuesday – Courtaulds Limited
This week’s cuts and caps required a bit of research to help explain the history behind it. This piece says Courtaulds Canada Limited. What is Courtaulds?
Courtaulds was a manufacturer of fabric and artificial fibres such as rayon, often referred to as artificial silk. The company began in England in 1794 and eventually expanded to Cornwall, Ontario (where we bought our press) in 1924 to produce rayon.
The plant shut down in 1992, but not before our press’s former owner could create some letterpress stationery for them.
